Carrboro Community Acupuncture

Kim Calandra, L.Ac. designed and founded Carrboro Community Acupuncture (CCA) in 2013 to offer a sustainable, grassroots model of healthcare to the Carrboro and Chapel Hill community. During CCA’s seven-year tenure, she and her team delivered affordable acupuncture to more than four hundred patients. In just its first year, they provided a thousand acupuncture treatments.

In CCA’s 700-square-foot space, each patient received treatment at one of four tables—alongside three other patients. This group healthcare setting allowed the practitioner to see four patients at once—meaning high-quality care could be offered at a low cost. Patients also valued the opportunity to heal in community alongside others.

In recognition of her leadership and vision for the future of accessible healthcare in the community, Kim received the 2015 Business Woman of the Year Award from the Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro.

While COVID-19 forced CCA to close its doors in 2020, Kim (and some of her team) continue to practice in the area.
